“The Pirate Queen” with Lucy Liu wins Tribeca’s Storyscapes Award

WE WON! After an exhilarating week at Tribeca Festival, we’re thrilled to share that Singer Studios won the Immersive Storyscapes award for our VR immersive narrative game, “The Pirate Queen” with Lucy Liu.

The Jury comment praised The Pirate Queen’s “…outstanding technical execution, immersive user experience, and unique and untold story of a nearly forgotten woman in history.” To say team Singer is delighted is an understatement.

Eloise Singer & Lucy Liu - The Pirate Queen

Tribeca was an awesome experience. Eloise Singer, our Founder and Director, Siobhan McDonnell, our Producer, Maja Bodenstein, our Writer and Orion Lee, one of our brilliant actors, loved meeting a host of other VR experts and enthusiasts, and sharing The Pirate Queen with them in our exhibit.

Eloise really enjoyed taking part in a panel entitled: ‘The birth of a super-heroine. How women shape stories for the future generation’ alongside the endlessly intelligent and interesting Katayoun Dibamehr, Michaela A. Ternasky-Holland, Paisley Smith and Ana Ribeiro.

Overall, Tribeca was a brilliant experience. Thank you Ana Brzezińska for curating such a wonderful programme and the whole Tribeca team for working so hard to deliver such a great experience.

There are many wonderful people we’d like to thank for their infinite creativity, passion and dedication for The Pirate Queen: Maja Bodenstein, Siobhan McDonnell, Lucy Liu, Orion Lee, Dave Ranyard, Simon Barratt, Brian Marshall, Lewis Bibby, Fran Boot, Hankun Yu, David Cecil, Calum Blue Short, Hannah Alexander, Alysha Nelson, Will Brosch, Matthew Wright, Rebecca Gainer, Andrew David Vladimirov, Edward Lun, Damion Sheppard, Guillaume Lavrilleux, Tom Fred Bradshaw, Scott Cannizzaro, Alessandro Famà, Mitch Mackay, Zhui Ning Chang, Lucia Xu, Buko Studio, Cathy Anderson, Rebecca Yeo, Lucy Davidson, Andrew Smith, Jessie Cohen PR, Meteor Pixel and Matt McGuinness. Thank you all; this win wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Writer of The Pirate Queen, Maja Bodenstein, talking all things writing, VR and pirates!

Team Singer is now back in the UK, award in hand, where we’re premiering our other VR experience, Mrs Benz, with audiences as part of the Alternate Realities Exhibition at Sheffield DocFest. Do come and say hi!
